M.E.SCHUPP® presents MoSi2 heater elements on the Glasstec - Value-for-money alternative to market-leading products
Düsseldorf, September 2010. From September 28 to October 01, 2010, the M.E.SCHUPP® Industriekeramik GmbH & Co. KG, Aachen, shows its product and solutions portfolio for the cost-efficient operation of high temperature systems. Center of attention at booth E40 in hall 13 are the meanwhile proven molybdenum disilicide (MoSi2) heater elements MolyCom®-Ultra. The heater elements for the temperature range between 1250°C and 1850°C are a cost-efficient alternative to the market-leading heater element products for users in the glass industry.
Apart from MolyCom®-Ultra, M.E.SCHUPP® shows in Düsseldorf its complete offer for the construction and operation of glass melting facilities. At the booth, the visitors find components and materials from the product areas refractories, forehearth technology, glass melting furnace pot technology, electrically heated systems as well as insulation materials.
M.E.SCHUPP® produces MolyCom®-Ultra on one of the most advanced facilities worldwide and is the sole producer of MoSi2 heater element in Germany. The intermetallic compound MoSi2 is, due to the constant electrical resistance, the homogeneous maximum temperature and its excellent oxidation resistance, the ideal material for high temperature applications. The self-regenerating SiO2 protective coating provides corrosion resistance up to 1800°C, the high temperature change resistance ensures a particularly high life expectancy of the heater elements.
M.E.SCHUPP® supplies MolyCom®-Ultra in all diameters from 3/6 mm to 12/24 mm, with a length of up to two meters. The hot-bending technology, mastered only by a few producers, also allows for complex heater element geometries.
The innovative heater elements are available in various qualities and versions to accommodate the glass industry's heavily varying requirements in regard to dimension, temperature and cycle time. In some applications, permanent heating over a period of several years is necessary, while in others, the temperature stress is varying. Also the atmospheres stress the heater elements to differing extents. For the manufacturing of high quality glass products, M.E.SCHUPP® offers the ultra-pure product variant MolyCom®-Hyper.
MolyCom® applications
A typical application for MolyCom® are equipments for the production of household and consumer glassware. At this, M.E.SCHUPPs self-manufactured heater elements are mounted on Al03 insulation panels and provided as a complete heater panel under the brand name MolyTec®. Due to the use of most diverse equipments in the glass industry, M.E.SCHUPP® supplies customized MolyTec® systems for the individual customer requirements. The dimensions of the insulation panels as well as size and capacity of the MolyCom®-Ultra elements are customized to the customer requirements.
Another MolyCom®-Ultra application are pot furnaces, in which particularly large elements with lengths of over 2 m are used. Compared to gas- or oil-heated equipments, the electrically heated furnaces provide a better glass, their temperature can be regulated more precisely, and have a longer lifespan.
MoSi2 elements are also very common in the tentative furnaces of the glass industry's development departments. For systems allowing operation temperatures of up to 1700°C, M.E. SCHUPP® doesn't only supply heater elements, mainly in U-shape, but also the customized high temperature insulations.
